Surgical procedures are common in dentistry, and our dentists have been trained to perform surgeries in ways that reduce patient anxiety and minimize post-operative pain.  In our office, dental surgeries are  performed as outpatient procedures. Depending on the surgery, generally patients can generally return to their normal routines within a few days.

Dental Implants

Implants are currently the best replacement for missing teeth and this service is offered to patients in our office.  The placement of a dental implant involves surgery to insert them into the jawbone. The implant is generally a titanium screw that is lightweight and biocompatible. After an implant has been placed, the area usually requires 3-6 months of healing to allow for the implant to fuse with the surrounding bone. After the fusion and the healing are completed, a crown is made and fitted to the implant to replace the missing tooth..

Tooth Extractions

This surgery is an outpatient procedure that involves removing a decayed, broken, infected, or otherwise compromised tooth.  Depending on the tooth, surgical intervention may be required.  Pre-operative and post-operative measures are taken by our dentists to minimize discomfort and expedite healing during and after the procedure.   

Bone Grafting

When a tooth is extracted, the jaw bone around the extraction site will reshape itself to fill in the new hole.  This results in bone loss, both in height and width.  If a dental implant is desired later, a bone graft is recommended at the time of the extraction.  This involves the placement of a filler material to maintain the dimensions of the bone while new bone can be formed into the space. This provides a better foundation for the  implant later.
